The 2026 Office Trailer Price Index
This index publishes the numbers most of the industry keeps in a drawer: the typical price ranges we quote across all 50 states, updated for 2026. Cite it, link it, argue with it; just stop guessing.
Method, in one paragraph: ranges reflect the rates at which our network depots quote standard-spec units across 431 US metros, rounded to sensible breaks. They exclude delivery, setup, and return (shown separately), and they describe typical jobs, not outliers. Where a figure is a modeled midpoint we say so.
Monthly rental, national ranges by size
| Size | Sq Ft | Typical Monthly | Typical Purchase (new) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8×20 | 160 | $250–$500 | $20,000–$30,000 |
| 8×24 | 192 | $300–$550 | $22,000–$33,000 |
| 10×40 | 400 | $400–$700 | $28,000–$42,000 |
| 12×44 | 528 | $450–$800 | $32,000–$48,000 |
| 12×60 | 720 | $500–$900 | $38,000–$55,000 |
| 24×60 | 1,440 | $700–$1,200 | $45,000–$70,000+ |
Used units run roughly 40 to 60% of new, condition depending.
The regional multipliers
Apply these to the national ranges and you will land close to a real quote:
- Premium markets (roughly +15 to +30%): coastal California, the New York metro, Boston, Seattle, Washington DC, Hawaii, and Alaska. Land, labor, and logistics all bill here.
- Standard markets (national ranges as printed): most large metros in the South, Midwest, and Mountain West: Dallas, Atlanta, Phoenix, Charlotte, Columbus, Denver.
- Value markets (roughly -10 to -15%): well-supplied inland metros with short hauls: much of the Midwest corridor, central Texas, and the mid-South.
- Event pricing (temporarily +20% or more): hurricane-recovery zones for a season, plant-turnaround clusters, and anywhere a mega-project soaks up a region’s fleet.
The charges around the rate
Delivery and setup run $1,000 to $5,000 each way nationally; steps, furniture, and skirting are line items; and the same unit priced by a close depot beats a far one even at a higher monthly rate. The full breakdown lives in the cost guide.
